Maine family camp
The only secular family camp in the country (solely operating all season long as a family camp) that is accredited by the American Camp Association, they seek to provide a family vacation that equally pleases both adults and children and helps younger children prepare for future summer’s at a children’s camp. Located on 250 acres of cool pine forest and warm grassy fields in mid-coast Main, the camp sits on a pristine lake and has over a mile of private shoreline.
This family camp hosts twelve families at a time. Each family has their own private cabin with bathrooms and hot showers. Families eat family style in our dining hall. They have a tennis court, basketball court, large activities barn and hiking trails.
What we love:
Their activities are structured like a traditional summer camp and include archery, arts and crafts, sailing, camp craft, jewelry making. Kids get a bit of the sleep away camp experience without having to sleep away from their parents. They also offer a special week that is enhanced with a visit by a Senior Editor of Sky and Telescope magazine. This coincides with the August Perseid meteor showers, and is a fantastic way to learn about astronomy from a professional astronomer.
Stress free, all meals and activities are planned out which provides you with time to be with your spouse while the children are having fun with other children. They also have activities especially planned for adults (local beer and cheese tasting, yoga, massage and cooking classes). They essentially seek to provide families with a stress-free and quality vacation that is enjoyable for every member of the family, in an environmentally friendly and sustainable way.
