City name: Middleton, Wisconsin
Population: 17,400

Middleton is a suburb to the west of Madison, Wisconsin -- however, it was founded before Madison, in the first half of the 1800s. As you'd expect of a city of that age, it has several historic homes and its own Historical Society. But that's not all: Not only is Middleton home to the National Mustard Museum and Capital Brewery, it's also the headquarters of American Girl.
Middleton has also long held a spot on Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live -- ranking #4 in 2009, #7 in 2005 and #1 in 2007.
