Train: Your sights

Tilden Park Steam Train

All aboard! "Choo-choo!" Madeline belted out as we approached the train -- it's her salutation for every train she meets.
You and your family, too, can enjoy a 12-minute journey through the Tilden Park's towering redwoods as you're pulled by one of Redwood Valley Railway's three steam engines.
These locomotives are scaled-down versions of old-fashioned steam trains, and you will enjoy a ride along the tops of some of the nearby ridges, affording some beautiful views (and go both ways through a dark tunnel!).
The steam train is located at the southern tip of Tilden, at the intersection of Grizzly Peak Boulevard and Lomas Cantadas. Like the park's Merry-Go-Round, this train is open for riding on weekends and many holidays (but it's closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day), plus is open on weekdays during school vacations. Parking, drinking water, and restroom facilities are wheelchair accessible.
